Union Rec is an american restaurant in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is listed at 545 S Main St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104, which places it among the local businesses of Ann Arbor that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

We were just passing through Ann Arbor and specifically chose Union Rec because their website menu showed that they sold meat by the half pound, which was exactly what my husband wanted. We came in, ordered drinks and chips & salsa, and then noticed that option wasnβt on the menu in the restaurant. When we asked our server, she told us they no longer offer it. That was pretty frustrating because we had chosen the restaurant specifically for that menu item, and by the time we found out the online menu was outdated, we had already ordered drinks and an appetizer and felt stuck staying. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didnβt make up for it. The fries were much cheaper-looking than the photos online and had very little flavor. The mac & cheese was also blandβeven after adding salt and pepper, it was just okay. The tacos were extremely greasy and left a literal pile of grease on the plate. We ended up spending about $55 for two drinks, chips & salsa, a side of mac & cheese, a side of fries, and two tacos. For the quality and overall experience, it just didnβt feel worth the price. Iβd also strongly recommend keeping the website menu current, especially when people may be choosing

A real treat in Ann Arbor! Great wait staff and interesting 100 year old lumber company building. Special local dishes to select and delicious desserts. Large bar with a fireplace. Lots to see here and the staff is terrific. Great free parking, and handicap ramp access. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, a real favorite of the locals. Near Washtena Dairy.

Okay so to start they have a nice atmosphere inside and good service. We ordered the $6 tacos which is pretty expensive for a single taco so I expected them to be good. They were not good. They were pretty bad. The corn tortillas were cold and dry, not fried or warmed up at all. The carne asada was very tough and dry. The Korean pork tacos were better than the carne asada but still very underwhelming. Itβs not often that I wonβt finish a taco. Pretty disappointing. 3 mid tacos and one labbat blue Pilsner came out to $31 after tip. Feels bad.

Literally everything was amazing! We sat at the bar and Morgan was our bartender. They were absolutely slammed before the Michigan/Michigan state basketball game and the service felt like we were the only ones there. We will be back! Also, food was amazing. Highly recommend the pollo asado taco and the honcho hot taco. We got the Mac n cheese to go because she said itβs what theyβre known for and it is SO flavorful!
